How to Download Music to an iPod Nano
Apple Computer does their best to make downloading music to your iPod Nano as easy as inherent but due to conflicting file permissions the task can be frustrating and downright annoying. It is my hope that this short guide can help you out.
The easiest way to download music to your iPod is to use iTunes. The apple schedule is free and works well on both the Pc and the Apple computers (of course). This schedule can turn songs from Mp3s into apples protected Acc or M4p format but will not change from Acc to Mp3 automatically, in other words you can download Mp3s to iTunes but you cannot turn your iTune songs to a Pc without taking a concentrate extra steps. (For this you will need a file converter like Blaze Media Converter or Avs Converter both are free). If you ensue this guide you will save time and headaches.
Downloading music to your iPod:
Starting out! (This step is optional but extremely recommended because it allows you to have your iPod work on both a Pc and a Mac. Open iTunes and go to the "Advanced" menu on the top after that go to "Importing":
Choose the Mp3 as the default format, rather than Aac, and you'll be in good shape. Someone else note here: This allows you to download songs using sites like Napster and Rhapsody but Not iTunes. The iTunes store uses the Acc format and you would need to use a converter mentioned above. Not a big deal but it is an extra step.
Downloading songs:
Step 1. Open the iTunes software (if you have not downloaded it now is the time). Do not plug in your nano at this time.
Step 2. Rip from a Cd: insert your Cd into the Pc and after just a few seconds it will appear in iTunes . All you have to do is click on the songs you want and click on "Import Cd" icon in the top right corner. Itunes will automatically load the songs to the library. It may take a few minutes depending on your computer speed.
Step 3. Plug in your nano. Itunes will identify it in a concentrate seconds and upload your songs automatically.
Note: The music file automatically saves to the Library in iTunes. If you want to make a new playlist you can do so by going under "File" and "New playlist" here you can enter the name of the playlist. After naming your playlist it will show up in the left column. At this point you can select your songs from the library drag them to your new playlist on the left.
Warning: While using a Free Download site or a Peer 2 Peer (P2P) site is well free, you don't all the time know what you get. In other words songs can comprise spyware, Trojans or even worse Viruses. So I extremely advise you sign up to a download site that costs a tiny bit but is safe.
